[Public] Obligatory Dreamwidth squee

Hihi! This is joining the long list of cross-posted from Dreamwidth posts doing the rounds at the moment.

My new journal is happydork @ dreamwidth, and I hope to make it my primary journal (cross-posting all entries to livejournal, of course) when open beta starts on 30th April.

For open posts, such as this one, I'll have all comments at the DW post. For locked posts, my policy will be to have comments enabled on both the DW post and the LJ copy, but to encourage people to post on DW if they possibly can. I might even copy-paste comments across from LJ to DW.

You don't need a DW account to read locked entries or post comments -- if the post is open, you can comment on my journal anonymously (but please sign your name!), if it's locked, you can use OpenID to do everything you'd do with a real account apart from make your own posts. (And indeed, I think at some point you may even be able to do that.)

Eee! I'm so excited.

(Manually cross-posted after waiting a couple of hours to see if DW would do it automatically.)

Read comments here; comment here; validate your OpenID here.

[public] Charities

Happy new year, everyone! May your 2009 be filled with joy, love and robots.

One of my less silly new year's resolutions is to remember that it's better to light a candle than to curse not being Edison.

In that spirit, I would love it if people were to recommend their favourite charities.

Please note: This post is (currently) public.

(One of my more silly ones is to work all the lyrics of When Jealous Torments... into the talks, classes, seminars, etc I give over the year. Wish me luck!)

[Public] Admin

Hi! Everything that was public on this journal should now be friends-only, and everything that was friends-only should now be private or custom filtered.

If you've been reading this journal but aren't on my flist and would like to continue reading my friends-only posts -- those that were/would be public -- then please drop me a comment.

And, I guess, if you're new to this journal, please comment to be added. Unless I know you in real life. In which case, please comment to make me break out in a cold sweat.
